Tiny Trip to Conneaut Lake
This Blog stuff is not fitting into my lifestyle. I'm 4 weeks behind in posting my last travel event and we're getting ready for another trip on Wednesday to Michigan! I figured I better catch up with what happened on our little trip to Conneaut Lake on August 17-20, 2017. It's everything you would except from us ðŸ˜.
We were invited for a visit to my niece Cara's new lake house on Conneaut Lake and decided to leave a day early since we haven't had time much to enjoy See-More this summer and to do a little bike riding. Our destination was Oil City in Venango County, PA. It is famous for being the first city in the petroleum industry and the first oil wells drilled here in the 1850s. It now welcomes Tourism by promoting it's rich history, natural trails, bike trails, and Victorian architecture.
We decided to take advantage of the 9 miles of paved biking trails in Oil Creek State Park and found a nice campground for the day, Oil City Family Campground. The campground was very remote and had a difficult 90 degree turn from the road and sure enough we managed to hit a huge rock and busted an axil on See-More. We were busted and disgusted! Not again, not another mishap! But, we don't get defeated, we enjoyed the rest of our day with a little bike ride before the rains came and were able to limp to a repair center in the morning and assess the damages.
Conneaut Lake was an hour away and we were assured by the mechanic that we could make it there with the broken axil, and we did...barely. The tire was destroyed but we decided to deal with that later so that we could enjoy our visit with The Biskup's . We had 3 days to spend with Cara and her family on the Lake. It was a very nice weekend, the kids are amazing and Cara and Keith are the perfect Hosts. We christened the maiden voyage of their pontoon boat and got a tour of the neighborhood by our tour guide Dominick in their golf cart. We just loved the laid back feel of Conneaut Lake. We pray that they have many years of fun and sun and health in their new home. It was a great visit and we're looking forward to next time!
