Next Stop, Cade's Cove in the Great Smokies
We decided to leave Kentucky a day early and head over to the Great Smokey Mountains. That's one of things I love so much about road trips. If you want to stay longer, you can and if you don't, well, you just move on.
We got on the road not knowing if we would be able to find a campground on such short notice and with it being the weekend of July 4th, we considered ourselves very lucky to find a place so close to the base of the mountains. What Luck! (yeah, right)
Our home for the next few days was Whispering Willow Campground in Walland, TN, just at the foot of the Great Smokies and Cade's Cove. It was a lovely campground with a pool and good wifi, a rarity as far as campgrounds go.
As I was setting up the inside of the trailer....Oh yea, by the way, I came up with a name for 'the trailer' during our trip over to Cade's Cove....his name is SeeMore....so, as I was setting up the inside of SeeMore, Bobby was outside having somewhat of a difficult time taking the blackwater hose out of the storage area. Seems that the collar of the hose got stuck right in the middle of the tube and he couldn't reach to push it out. I brought him out a broom to push it through and while I was knelt down with my face at the other end of the tube evaluating the situation, he managed to push that blackwater hose collar right thru the tube and right into my face. It hit the bridge of my nose, right between my eyes and splashed some leftover fluids all over me, managing to knock me over too, blunt force and all. Next morning I had quite the black and blue mark right across the bridge of my nose. We certainly give our neighbors some free entertainment when we show up in a campground.
We took a ride early evening to checkout Cade's Cove so we knew where we were going to in the morning. It was everything I hoped it would be. Such a lovely area with rich history. I chose my spot to capture the morning light and with excitement went to bed early since we were getting up before dawn.
It wasn't too long after laying down to sleep that we were awaken to a large THUD to SeeMore. We ran outside to see a white truck going down the lane, Bobby ran after it and confronted the driver only to discover that the guy driving denied hitting SeeMore. I won't get into the ugly details...attitude, denial, cops, neighbors, Ugh!
